Cambodia Greenlights 22 Investment Projects Worth US$444m in a 15-Day Spree

In a dynamic economic surge, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has approved 22 new investment projects, amassing a staggering US$444 million in just 15 days during February. The industrial sector emerged as the primary recipient of these investments, with significant contributions, 15 projects, also flowing into infrastructure and agriculture.

The CDC’s press release on 19 February 2024, highlighted the diverse range of approved projects, with a predominant focus on the industrial landscape. Among the approved initiatives were projects ranging from data centres, iron ore businesses, and cardboard factories to garment manufacturing, pig farms, and multi-purpose ports.

  2. Fruit tree farm and processing factory in Borey Ou Svay Sen Chey district, Stung Treng province.
  3. Iron ore business in Vieng district, Preah Vihear province.
  4. Factory for bags, backpacks, car tires, book covers, and pads in Khan Kambol, Phnom Penh.
  5. Data centre in Daun Penh district, Phnom Penh.
  6. Pig farm and processing factory in Borey Ou Svay Sen Chey district, Stung Treng province.
  7. Multi-purpose port and logistics centre in Kampong Leng district, Kampong Chhnang province.
  8. Factory for home appliances from recycled metals in Svay Chrum district, Svay Rieng province.
  9. Garment, medical, and pet garment factory in Khan Por Senchey, Phnom Penh.
  10. Cardboard factory in Kong Pisey district, Kampong Speu province.
  11. Factory for bags and bag accessories in Samrong Tong district, Kampong Speu province.
  12. Garment and sewing factory in Takhmao city, Kandal province.
  13. Garment factory in Bati district, Takeo province.
  14. Factory for Christmas trees, decorative lights, and Christmas tree accessories in Kong Pisey district, Kampong Speu province.

  19. Factory for decorative lamps, wires, and cardboard boxes in Svay Rieng Gigaris Special Economic Zone, Svay Rieng Province.

Phnom Penh and Svay Rieng were identified as the primary recipients of these investments, signifying a robust and widespread economic development across the region.
