China’s High-speed Train Takes Bentley 2018 ‘special Recognition Awards’

China’s ‘Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway’ has been announced as winners of the ‘Year in Infrastructure 2018 Awards’ for its outstanding project design.

Designed and constructed by China Railway Engineering Consulting Group Co., Ltd, the project was presented the award for the ‘Advancing Collaborative Digital Workflows in Rail and Transit’ project which has been integrated with products by Bentley Systems, the leading global provider of comprehensive software solutions for advancing the design, construction, and operations of infrastructure.

With an investment of up to CNY 53.5 billion (about US$7.6 billion), this railway project is approximately 170 kilometres in length, consisting of 71 subgrade sections, 64 bridges, 10 tunnels, and 10 stations, including China’s largest underground excavation station.

Integrated with Bentley’s products such as MicroStation, PowerCivil, and AECOsim Building Designer for collaborative design, model review, collision detection, and construction simulation, as well as ProjectWise, the railway can reduce travel time between the two cities from three hours to 50 minutes.

Upon completion before the 2022 Winter Olympics, this ‘Beijing-Zhangjiakou High-speed Railway’ will become the world’s first high-speed train with a design speed of 350 kilometres per hour.

Bentley’s ‘Year in Infrastructure 2018 Awards’ is an annual awards program that honours the extraordinary work of Bentley users advancing design, construction, and operations of infrastructure throughout the world.
