Chinese Firms Unveil Ambitious Investment Plan for Wastewater Treatment Systems in High-rise Buildings in Cambodia

In a significant move towards enhancing environmental sustainability, three prominent Chinese companies have announced a collaborative investment plan to install advanced wastewater treatment systems in high-rise buildings across Cambodia. The investment, driven by Anhui Sunyu Water Co., Ltd., Anhui Tongyuan Environment Energy Saving Co., Ltd., and JINIV Technology Environmental Co., Ltd., aims to conserve energy while promoting public health.

This announcement followed a meeting on July 16, 2025, between H.E. Eang Sophallet, Minister of Environment, and a delegation of investors from Anhui Province, China. During the meeting, Deng Bangwu, President of Anhui Sunyu, emphasized the company’s commitment to deploying a state-of-the-art water treatment system capable of converting liquid waste into high-quality clean water, aligning with Cambodian regulations and public health objectives.

Ms. Yu Xiaoxia, President of JINIV, highlighted the potential for innovation in waste management, viewing the diligent efforts of local garbage collection services as a springboard for integrating smart technologies. She expressed her vision to transform waste into clean energy, a step that resonates with the sustainable goals of the participating companies.

Moreover, Mr. Yang Ming, President of Anhui Tongyuan, shared insights into his company’s recycling plant model in China, which efficiently processes tens of thousands of tons of waste daily, converting it into clean energy.

Expressing appreciation for this initiative, H.E. Eang Sophallet acknowledged the essential role of the private sector in fostering environmental stewardship and sustainability in Cambodia. He noted that such investments contribute significantly to the country’s socio-economic development.

This announcement comes on the heels of a previous meeting on July 7, where the same trio of companies, with over a decade of expertise in liquid waste treatment across several countries, expressed their interest in enhancing Cambodia’s cleanliness and environmental integrity. (Read more)
