Hunan Province investors attracted by main sector potential

Cambodia has attracted investors from Hunan province, China to invest in the country’s main sectors. The Royal Government of Cambodia has encouraged the interest, particularly in the development of infrastructure to make Cambodia more competitive by being well-connected inside the country and in the region.

Speaking at a Hunan Investment Promotion and Machinery Expo held in Phnom Penh on 19 November, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport, said that the infrastructure sector is important for developing Cambodia’s economy through facilitating business and investment, creating jobs, and reducing poverty.

“The Royal Government of Cambodia really needs the participation of private sector and development partners to invest in the main sectors on which the government is offering incentives,” H.E Sun Chanthol said.

The Cambodian government is a pro-business government which considers the private sector as an engine to drive economic development in Cambodia, H.E. Sun Chanthol said.

Besides the infrastructure sector, H.E. Sun Chanthol laid out other main investment priority sectors including light industry, processing industry, agriculture and agro-industry production, food production, tourism, and human resource building.

The Hunan delegation from China had studied and seeking the economic potential from focusing on industry, agriculture, machinery industry, and other main sectors.

Du Jiahao, a member of the CPC Central Committee and secretary of the CPC Hunan Provincial Committee, said that Hunan investors have seen the potential in Cambodia and they are confident in the political stability and fast development in Cambodia.
