Four Main Projects in Phnom Penh Put Into Service This April

Four major infrastructure and transportation projects in Phnom Penh will be put into operation in April before the Khmer New Year holiday to benefit citizens during the festivities. A new flyover bridge, the airport railway, the water taxi and the iron bridge will all be in service.

The new flyover bridge located near Dey Hoi Market along Russian Boulevard will be the fifth such bridge to be built in Phnom Penh. Construction started in August 2016 and when complete it will be 905 metres long and 16.5 metres wide.

The new railway line will connect the central area of the city to Phnom Penh International Airport, with the journey taking 20 to 25 minutes. For the first three months after its launch, the public will be able to use it for free.

The water taxi project connects Prek Pnov to Ta Kmao with 15 stops along the way. There will be around 20 ferries, each of which can carry around 99 passengers.

The iron bridge crosses the Tonle Sap Lake and has been under construction since October 2017 to assist with congestion while the renovations are under way on the Japanese Friendship Bridge.

These four projects will help a great deal to ease the burden of Phnom Penh’s traffic, while at the same time potentially attracting more investors to Cambodia.
