Government Unveils Special Incentives for Ten Major Projects in Sihanoukville

In a significant boost to the local economy, the Investment Promotion Team in Sihanoukville has announced its decision to grant special incentives for ten investment and business projects, collectively valued at approximately USD 154 million. This initiative aims to attract new investments and enhance the growth of the area, according to an official announcement made on the team’s Facebook page.

The approved projects include a mix of revitalisations and new developments, featuring four stalled building projects, four new ventures, an expansion of an existing project, and one ongoing initiative. These developments are expected to create around 1,187 jobs across various sectors, including processing factories, commercial buildings, general education institutions, floating piers, hotels, and shared accommodation facilities.

This announcement comes as part of a broader trend in Sihanoukville, where, from 2024 to May 2025, the Investment Promotion Team has already approved incentives for a total of 297 projects, amounting to an impressive USD 7,029 million in estimated investment. Collectively, these projects have the potential to generate approximately 53,187 jobs, significantly contributing to the region’s economic growth.

Looking ahead, a working group is scheduled to inspect the sites of around 30 additional projects seeking incentives, concessions, and procedural streamlining in June 2025. This proactive approach exemplifies the government’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and supportive environment for investors, setting the stage for Sihanoukville’s continued development as a key economic hub.
