Cambodian Cement Production Surges to Over 4m Tons in First Half of 2024

Cambodia’s cement industry achieved a significant milestone in the first half of 2024, with local factories producing an impressive 4.17 million tons of cement. This represents a 5.5% increase compared to the 3.95 million tons produced during the same period last year, as reported by the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Despite a sluggish recovery in the construction sector, which is projected to grow at a modest pace of 1.1%, the demand for cement remains robust, driven by the anticipated revival of low- and medium-cost housing projects and a gradual influx of foreign investment.

The five key cement manufacturers contributing to this output are Kampot Cement Co Ltd, Battambang Conch Cement Co Ltd (Conch), Chip Mong Insee Cement Corp, Cambodia Cement Chakrey Ting Factory Co Ltd, and Thai Boon Roong Cement Co Ltd.

The ministry’s report suggests that the slow but steady recovery in construction activity is aligned with broader economic trends, signaling a cautious optimism for the sector’s future growth.
