Indonesia Brings Cultural Night Market to Phnom Penh to Celebrate 66 Years of Friendship

The Indonesian Embassy in Cambodia has announced exciting plans to establish an Indonesian night market on the bustling Chaktomuk pedestrian street in Phnom Penh. Indonesian Ambassador to Cambodia, Mr. Santo Damosumarto, made the announcement during a meeting with Phnom Penh Governor, Mr. Khuong Sreng.

The night market is scheduled to take place on either November 22 or 23, 2025, and aims to provide a vibrant showcase of Indonesian culture, including traditional dances, art, and an array of delicious foods. Ambassador Damosumarto emphasized that the event will not only highlight Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage but will also enhance tourism in the city, fostering closer ties between the Indonesian and Cambodian peoples.

Governor Khuong Sreng expressed his support for the initiative, agreeing to the proposal while requesting that the Indonesian Embassy select a specific location to ensure effective security measures can be put in place.

The meeting also underscored the strong diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Indonesia, which date back to 1959, marking an impressive 66 years of partnership.

As preparations for the night market continue, both nations look forward to a celebratory event that will strengthen cultural exchanges and boost tourism in the heart of Phnom Penh.
