Investment Surge in Cambodia: 13 New Projects Proposed

In a promising development for Cambodia’s economy, a group of investors has submitted applications for 13 qualified investment projects, boasting a combined capital of USD 318 million. The Council for the Development of Cambodia has commenced a thorough evaluation of these proposals, signalling a potential boost to the nation’s industrial landscape.

During a meeting held on 12 May, HE Chea Vuthy, Secretary-General of the Committee for Investment of Cambodia, emphasised the significance of the day’s discussions, which focused on the registration applications for 12 new investment projects and one expansion initiative. Notably, the expansion project entails an iron ore mining operation in Kampot province.

One of the standout investments is expected to create around 7,300 jobs across various sectors. These sectors include manufacturing gaming equipment, plastic and metal materials, cleaning supplies, household appliances, and kitchen accessories. Additionally, the project aims to establish a 150-megawatt wind power station, contributing significantly to Cambodia’s renewable energy capabilities.

The proposed projects are strategically planned for locations in Kandal, Kampong Speu, Takeo, Kampot, and Mondulkiri provinces, aligning with the government’s goal to foster regional economic development.

Investor interest in Cambodia continues to grow, reflecting confidence in the country’s economic potential and commitment to creating a favourable environment for business and job creation.
