Major Airline to Launch Direct Flights to Cambodia Starting December

In a significant boost for tourism, Turkish Airlines has announced that it will begin direct flights from Istanbul, Turkey, to Phnom Penh, Cambodia, starting December 10, 2025. This expansion comes as the airline maintains its presence in over 350 destinations across 130 countries, enhancing connectivity to one of Southeast Asia’s emerging markets.

The announcement was made after a productive meeting on September 16, 2025, between H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, and Ms. ÜLKÜ KOCAEFE, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey. The meeting also included Mr UMIT Develi, Vice President of Turkish Airlines.

Minister Hak expressed optimism about the partnership, emphasising the potential for increased tourism as Cambodia positions itself as an attractive destination. The recent launch of the modern Techo International Airport further cements the country’s efforts to connect with the world.

“The introduction of this direct flight is expected to significantly boost the number of international travellers and tourists flocking to Cambodia,” said Minister Hak. “Turkish Airlines’ extensive network will provide greater access to our beautiful sites, encouraging even more visitors.”

Recent statistics reveal a positive trend in Cambodian tourism, with 618,771 foreign tourists visiting the Angkor site from January to July 2025. This represents a 5.39% increase compared to the same period in 2024, with ticket sales amounting to USD 28,643,407, according to a report by the Angkor Foundation released on August 1, 2025.
