Mekong River Bridge (Dei Edth-Thma Kor) Construction Reaches 36% Completion

The Mekong River Bridge (Dei Edth-Thma Kor) Construction Project has marked a significant milestone, achieving 36% completion as of late December 2025. His Excellency So Vector, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport and Managing Director of the project, led a team of officials to the construction site to evaluate advancements and ensure the project stays on track.

The Mekong River Bridge, designed as a vital infrastructure link, features an expansive total length of 3,700 meters, with the bridge portion measuring 1,600 meters and a width of 26 meters designated for four lanes of traffic. The accompanying bridgehead connection road stretches 2,100 meters, built to modern standards with 26-meter asphalt concrete (AC) paving.

This ambitious project promises to enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth in the region, thoroughly integrating modern transportation routes. With a construction period set at 48 months, the bridge is scheduled for completion in 2028, funded by a development partner. (read more)

In addition to the primary structure, four traffic diversion roads have been established to facilitate ongoing transport needs during the construction phase. The successful completion of the Mekong River Bridge is a testament to the Cambodian government’s commitment to bolstering infrastructural development, improving the lives of its citizens, and serving as the main connection to the Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway.

As the project continues, close monitoring and evaluations will be conducted to ensure timely completion and adherence to safety standards.
