The Ministry of Commerce of Cambodia and the Chinese Investors Association came together on 17 October 2023, to ink three pivotal Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in Beijing. These agreements aim to bolster various sectors, including tourism, education, and investment, within the burgeoning Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone.

The visionary MoUs were jointly signed by Lok Chumteav Cham Nimol, the Minister of Commerce of Cambodia, and representatives of the Chinese Investors Association.

The Tripartite Agreements include:

  1. Elevating Cambodian Tourism: The first MoU embarks on a journey of collaboration in tourism development and ventures into other sectors for the sustainable utilization of Preah Suramarit-Kosoma: “Kirirom” in Kampong Speu and Sihanoukville. This partnership promises to unlock the potential of these picturesque locales, attracting visitors while ensuring sustainable growth.
  2. Nurturing Future Hospitality Leaders: The second MoU pioneers investment cooperation in the realm of hospitality education. It lays the foundation for training high school students in Cambodia and offering them opportunities to further their studies in China. By fostering educational exchange, it aspires to create skilled professionals for the evolving hospitality industry.
  3. Unleashing Economic Zone Potential: The third MoU marks an essential step in the development of the Special Economic Zone in Ta Nei village, Ta Nei commune, Prey Nob district, Preah Sihanouk province. By leveraging the synergy between Cambodia and Chinese investors, this collaboration is poised to transform this economic zone, opening doors for trade, innovation, and economic expansion.
