Over 200,000 Land Parcels Surveyed Across Three Provinces in Six Months

In a major push for systematic land registration, Cambodia successfully surveyed 207,500 land parcels across Kampong Chhnang, Preah Vihear, and Oddar Meanchey provinces between June and November 2024. This milestone was presented during a 4 December 2024 review meeting led by the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction.

According to Mr. Chhoeun Bunnaroth, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Land Management, the intervention team surveyed 170,000 parcels in Kampong Chhnang, followed by 19,500 parcels in Preah Vihear and 18,000 in Oddar Meanchey. The team is now set to expand its systematic land survey operations to Stung Treng and Tbong Khmum provinces as part of the ministry’s national land management strategy.

The ministry plans to finalize surveys in these three provinces by early 2025, paving the way for the issuance of land ownership certificates to residents. Concurrently, preparations are underway to deploy personnel and equipment to Stung Treng and Tbong Khmum, ensuring continued progress in Cambodia’s ambitious land registration initiative.

Cambodia has registered over 7.7 million private land parcels, with title deeds issued for 7 million parcels and 3 million new parcels surveyed. The Ministry of Land Management aims to complete nationwide land registration by 2025, resolve lingering land disputes, and improve land management systems to strengthen property rights nationwide.
