New roads along rail track sideways to link to US$2 billion express way

Phnom Penh Municipal Hall and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport is studying the feasibility to construct two new roads along the sideways of the rail track which will connect to the US$2 billion expressway, said the press release.

According to Phnom Penh Municipal Hall’s press release, the project is under a studying stage before getting approval from the government regarding the funds. The roads will reduce traffic congestion in the city centre.

The project will see the construction of two concrete roads from Kim Il Sung Blvd to Win-Win Blvd (Kob Srov road) connecting to the US$2 billion Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway that completed construction around 7% now. (Read more)

The construction will not only reduce traffic but ease travelling for people and the transport of goods to and from Phnom Penh as well.

Currently, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, Phnom Penh Municipal Hall, Cambodia Railway are conducting a study to access the impact of this road in order to get the approval from the government and seek investment.
