Phnom Penh Governor inspects railway and road reconstruction site (02 March)

Phnom Penh Governor Khoung Sreng led expert team to inspect the construction of a concrete road section connecting National Road No. 5 to Tonop 70 road. In addition, the team also conducted the study on the impact of the railway construction site that would affect the locals in the area as well.

Toul Kork water reservoir construction underway (09 March)

After the completion of Touk Kork water pumping station No. 1, Phnom Penh City Municipality has been working on another water reservoir project in the same district. As of 6 March, the working team is clearing the trash, filling land and building up the concrete walls of the reservoir.

Loo Pram water drainage pumping station breaks ground (16 March)

Loo Pram water drainage pumping station in Mean Chey District is currently under construction. This station is being built to help solve the flooding problem at the south and east sides of Phnom Penh International Airport as it is capable of draining about 8 cubic metres of water per second. The project is expected to be completed in the next five to six months, in time for the arrival of the rains.

Choeung Ek area to see a new waterway (17 March)

Phnom Penh Municipality has been currently working on dredging a waterway from National Road No.3 to the Choeung Ek area to solve the flooding situation in the area. This new waterway will be 13.5 metres long and 12 metres wide, and will also be used to irrigate the agricultural products of the locals in the area as well.

Drainage system clearance conducted on several main Phnom Penh boulevards (March 17)

A Phnom Penh Municipality team has been tasked with clearing and cleaning the waste drainage system on several of Phnom Penh’s main boulevards including Kampuchea Krom Blvd., Mao Tse Toung Blvd., and Oknha Tep Phan road. This project is done regularly to keep the city clean and organised.

467 streets light installed on Samdech Hun Sen Boulevard (March 24)

A total of 467 street lights have been installed along the Samdech Hun Sen Blvd to ease the night traffic of all motorists. Hun Sen Boulevard is 9,160 metres long, connecting Street 271 in the north with National Road 2 to the south.

Upper section of Neang Kong Hing walkway under installation (April 11)

The first piece of the pedestrian bridge section at Neang Kong Hing roundabout has been installed following the completion of the six pillars since February. Meanwhile, the rest will be installed gradually one after another. According to the initial plan the whole project is expected to finish by April, however based on the actual construction progress, it will be later than that.

Iron bridge construction expected to finish by May (12 April)

By 12 April, the last two pieces of the temporary iron bridge over the Tonle Sap River had been installed. Meanwhile, the whole construction is expected to be completed by May. This bridge will be 501 metres long and 12 metres wide connecting Russey Keo and Chrouy Changva districts to ease the traffic congestion at the Chruoy Changva bridge area as the Japan-Cambodia Friendship bridge is being renovated.

Waterway in Por Senchey district being built to prevent flooding (21 April)

Phnom Penh Municipality is currently dredging a new waterway to help solve the flooding problem in the Toul Pongro area of Por Senchey district during the rainy season. This new water way is 5,510 metres long and 8 metres wide stretching from the Tongra factory to Tuol Pongro road. After completion, the waterway will help solve the flooding situation in several areas such as the ECCC Court area, Jompoowan temple area, as well as the Chom Chao area.

Road section in front of ECCC Court under expansion (24 April)

The section of National Road No.4 in front of the ECCC (Khmer Rouge) Court is under expansion to help ease the highly congested traffic in the area. This expansion is also a part of the government project to expand the whole of National Road No.4 as it is a very important road connecting Phnom Penh to the sea port of Cambodia in Kompong Som.
