New Road Connecting Oral Kampong Speu to Koh Kong Port Announced by PM

PM Hun Manet has unveiled plans for a new road connecting Kampong Speu to the Koh Kong port, aimed at harnessing the region’s potential akin to that of Phnom Penh. The announcement was made during the inauguration ceremony of various achievements at the Cambodian Buddhist Cultural Centre on 30 May 2024.

The PM highlighted the strategic importance of constructing a road linking Koh Kong province’s port to Kampong Speu. This initiative is expected to unlock significant economic opportunities for Kampong Speu, emphasising the critical role of human resources in driving this development. He urged the younger generation to enhance their skills and capabilities to mirror Phnom Penh’s development success.

According to the Engineering Department of the Ministry of National Defence, the project entails the construction of a 115.20km long gravel road. This new road will connect Oral district in Kampong Speu province to Koh Kong district in Koh Kong province, intersecting with National Road No. 48 at km 68.

The PM’s vision underscores the Royal Government’s commitment to regional development, aiming to transform Kampong Speu into a vital economic hub. This project is anticipated to foster enhanced connectivity, stimulate local economies, and promote sustainable development across the region.
