Significant Progress in Bavet with New Wastewater Treatment Plant Construction

The construction of a state-of-the-art sewage system and wastewater treatment plant was groundbreaking in Bavet, following an inauguration ceremony held on August 8, 2025. The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including HE Vong Piseth, Undersecretary of State for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, and HE Peng Porsa, Governor of Svay Rieng Province.

With an investment of nearly 30 million USD, the project is backed by a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). In his address, HE Vong Piseth heralded the initiative as a milestone achievement that promises to yield substantial benefits for Bavet’s residents and the broader community. He expressed gratitude to both the Ministry of Public Works and the ADB for their roles in facilitating this transformative project.

“This project is not just a development initiative; it is a response to the pressing needs of our community. It will play a pivotal role in addressing the current challenges faced by our locality, ensuring a healthier and more sustainable environment for all,” HE Vong Piseth stated.

This new wastewater treatment facility, strategically located in Trapaing Phlong Village, Bati Sangkat, is set to enhance infrastructure and environmental health in the region.

Construction will span 36 months, with completion anticipated in 2028. This project marks a significant step forward for Bavet, further solidifying its status as a livable city and driving future growth.

Note, Svay Rieng Province is currently home to 12 special economic zones and 1,034 factories and enterprises, establishing it as a significant player in Cambodia’s industrial and economic development. (Read more)
