Society of Jesus Christ Supports Health Initiatives in Cambodia with New Heart Disease Centre in Siem Reap

A groundbreaking ceremony was held today for a new heart disease centre, financed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with an investment of over USD 2 million. The centre will be situated on the grounds of the Siem Reap Referral Hospital, marking a significant advancement in the region’s healthcare services.

During the ceremony, Mr. Di Rado, Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province, emphasised the project’s importance to the local health sector. “This heart disease centre represents a milestone achievement for our province. It will significantly enhance the delivery of health services, making them more accessible and efficient for our citizens,” he stated.

The construction of this facility is viewed as a critical contribution to the Royal Government of Cambodia, particularly in promoting a more modern and sophisticated health environment in Siem Reap.

Siem Reap Referral Hospital, part of the Siem Reap Provincial Health Department, plays a vital role in the region’s healthcare, boasting 470 inpatient beds, 24 direct service departments, and 12 support service departments. It has established itself as a leading regional hospital, attracting patients from neighbouring provinces seeking advanced medical care, particularly for serious or complex health issues.

The addition of the heart disease centre is expected to further elevate the hospital’s capabilities, providing specialised care and addressing the growing demand for cardiovascular services in the area. This initiative underlines the commitment to improving health outcomes and ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to all residents of Siem Reap and the surrounding regions.

As the community eagerly anticipates the completion of the heart disease centre, this development signifies a promising step forward in the ongoing efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure within Cambodia.
