Temporary Opening of Samdech Thipadei Flyover Set for July 11

In a significant step toward improving local traffic conditions, the government has announced the temporary opening of the “Samdech Thipadei” flyover on July 11, 2025. This new infrastructure is designed to enhance mobility for residents and ease congestion in anticipation of the upcoming Pchum Ben festival.

Strategically located at the intersection of Samdech Techo Hun Sen Boulevard and National Road No. 2, a crucial corridor connecting Phnom Penh and Kandal Province, the first flyover has completed construction and is ready for public use. It will facilitate traffic flow along Samdech Techo Hun Sen Boulevard toward Techo International Airport, providing an essential route for commuters beginning July 11.

The second flyover, which will serve traffic traveling from Techo International Airport via National Road No. 2 back into Phnom Penh, is expected to be completed by early August 2025. It is set to open temporarily on August 15, further enhancing connectivity in the region.

The twin flyovers are constructed with a robust American concrete bridge design featuring I-beams, each bridge measuring 9.5 meters wide and extending 622 meters in total. With an overall project cost exceeding 16 million VND, the flyovers offer three traffic lanes designed to ensure smooth one-way travel.

Both flyovers are positioned along a 60-meter highway, intersecting National Road 2, which will improve access and significantly reduce traffic bottlenecks. The Phnom Penh Municipal Administration highlighted in their notice dated July 10 that these infrastructure improvements aim to create a smoother traffic flow and provide enhanced travel experiences for all users.
