Ten Chinese Tourism Enterprises Seek Investment Opportunities in Cambodia

In an exciting development for Cambodia’s tourism sector, ten prominent Chinese tourism enterprises have expressed interest in exploring investment opportunities within the country. During a recent meeting held on August 30, 2025, His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, engaged with representatives from these leading firms to discuss potential collaborations aimed at enhancing tourism between China and Cambodia.

The visiting delegation, hailing from Beijing and Tianjin, aimed to better understand the investment incentives provided by the Royal Government of Cambodia. A key focus of the discussions revolved around strategies to attract more Chinese tourists to Cambodian destinations, particularly the iconic sites of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.

As a positive outcome of the meeting, both parties agreed to promote an array of tailored tour packages and to facilitate direct flight connections between Tianjin and major Cambodian cities. They emphasized the importance of accurately showcasing Cambodia’s tourism potential and addressing safety concerns to combat misinformation.

Additionally, plans were set in motion for a Familiarization (FAM) Trip, allowing stakeholders to explore Cambodia’s unique tourism offerings and investment landscapes. Both sides also committed to organizing collaborative tourism events in 2025 as part of the “Cambodia-China Tourism Year” initiative.

Notably, statistics from the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia highlight a significant surge in Chinese tourist arrivals, with 53,291 visitors recorded in the first seven months of this year—an impressive 21% increase from the previous year. July alone saw 5,720 Chinese tourists visiting the renowned Angkor Wat, underscoring China’s status as a key source of foreign visitors to Cambodia.

As preparations continue for the Cambodia-China Tourism Year in 2025, officials anticipate a continued rise in tourist numbers, reinforcing the potential for robust growth within Cambodia’s tourism industry.
