Gov’t Set to Unveil Three Major Pub Street Destinations in Phnom Penh by 2024’s End

The Phnom Penh Capital Administration is poised to unveil three expansive pedestrian street locations, encompassing a total of 57 hectares, as part of the iconic Pub Street concept, ahead of the New Year celebrations in 2025.

In a recent meeting led by HE Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, on 26 April 2024, the Phnom Penh Municipal Authority disclosed plans for the development of the Pub Street project, slated for launch before the close of 2024.

During the meeting, officials affirmed that the Pub Street areas would feature a vibrant mix of shops, restaurants, hotels, and bars, catering to both local and international patrons seeking evening entertainment and shopping experiences from 6 pm to 11 pm.

Mr. Sam Piseth, Director of the Department of Public Works and Transport of Phnom Penh, outlined the division of the expansive pedestrian street into three distinct zones:

  1. The first area, situated in front of the Cambodia Post Office, will offer a variety of dining and shopping options.
  2. The second area, commonly known as Pub Street, will span from Street 106 in the north to Preah Sisowath Quay in the south, with Street 184 and Street 13 marking the western and eastern boundaries, respectively.
  3. The third area, designated as a recreational space, will extend from Street 184 in the north to Sihanoukville Boulevard in the south, bordered by Street 7 to the west and Preah Sisowath Quay to the east.

Each of these zones will feature lush greenery, vibrant gardens, restroom facilities, temporary parking areas, as well as an array of shops, eateries, hotels, and bars to enhance the overall experience.

The project, slated to commence in May, is expected to span six months, with the grand unveiling scheduled to coincide with the approaching Global New Year celebrations in 2025.
