JCA: Attracting Even 0.1% of Japanese SMEs Means 4,000 Companies Investing in Cambodia

The Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA)  is gearing up to establish its presence in Cambodia, aiming to attract Japanese investors and promote Cambodia’s investment potential among Japan’s vast network of around 4 million small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

HE Takahashi Fumiaki, President of the Japan-Cambodia Association, revealed this plan during a recent meeting with Samdech Techo Hun Sen during a courtesy dinner on 10 January 2024. He highlighted that even attracting a modest 0.1% of Japanese SMEs could bring approximately 4,000 companies to invest in Cambodia.

Samdech Techo expressed optimism about the potential impact on job creation and knowledge transfer to Cambodia through investments from Japanese SMEs. The coordination with the JCA aims to help companies explore investment prospects in Cambodia and leverage the Cambodian government’s policies, particularly in the development of special economic zones exclusive to Japanese investors.

The meeting, attended by representatives from companies already operating in Cambodia, saw some expressing their interest in establishing training schools for car repair and entrepreneurship, contributing to skill development in the country.
