Two Military Training Centres in Kampong Speu Turned Into COVID-19 Treatment Facilities

Two military training institutes in Kampong Speu province have been selected to become additional COVID-19 treatment facilities for patients from Phnom Penh and Kampong Speu province.

General Sem Sovanny, Director-General of the National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces said during the site inspection on 24 March that both new treatment facilities will be under the control of military doctors and are open to both military and general patients.

“This decision was made after observing that military doctors are skilled in treating COVID-19 patients. For example, we successfully cured nine soldiers returning from the Central African Republic recently,” said Gen. Sonvanny.

He added that the centres are located in different locations, one in Phnom Sruoch District while another in Oudong District.

Due to the recent surge in community outbreak, PM Hun Sen has decided to turn many hotels, hospitals and other properties into quarantine and treatment centres.
