Two more pedestrian overpass projects planned for Phnom Penh

Phnom Penh Municipality has prepared to break ground in October on construction of two pedestrian overpass projects in Phnom Penh to offer safe passage to pedestrian commuters and avoid traffic accidents.

Mr Sam Piseth, director of Public Works and Transport Department for Phnom Penh, said that ground will be broken on construction of the two projects in October. The construction sites have been preparing for the ceremonies.

The two pedestrian overpasses are located at the Santhor Mok intersection and Dumkor market intersection, Mr Piseth said.

“The pedestrian overpasses will facilitate people and commuters walking across the streets in safety, avoiding traffic accidents and also facilitating better for commuters,” Mr Piseth said.

However, Mr Piseth asked not to reveal the budget for constructing the overpasses and the timeframe of construction will take.

Currently, there are two pedestrian overpasses; one in front of Chompuvon high school, along National Road Number 4 and the other at the intersection in front of the Olympia City complex.
