Vietnamese Investors Show Strong Interest in Cambodia: 150 Companies Ready to Invest

In a significant move to strengthen bilateral economic ties, approximately 150 Vietnamese companies have expressed keen interest in investing in Cambodia. This development was highlighted during a meeting on 10 June 2025, between HE Nguyen Minh Vu, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia, and HE Binh Trachhai, the Minister of Planning.

Ambassador Nguyen noted that the ongoing economic and trade cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia has seen substantial growth in recent months. He pointed out that Vietnam has emerged as Cambodia’s second-largest source of imported goods, showcasing the deepening economic relationship between the two nations.

During a recent business forum attended by about 150 Vietnamese companies, the Ambassador emphasised Cambodia’s promising investment potential and the various opportunities available for foreign investors. He encouraged these companies to consider making investments in Cambodia, further enhancing economic collaboration.

In response, Minister Binh Trachhai expressed gratitude for the Vietnamese Ambassador’s efforts to mobilise investment interest. He reiterated the Cambodian government’s commitment to implementing robust reforms aimed at attracting investors from various sectors. Additionally, he underscored the importance of Vietnam’s assistance in training Cambodian professionals in planning and statistical skills to bolster local capacities.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both Cambodia and Vietnam to expand their strategic partnership and foster closer ties. Notably, in November 2024, investments from Vietnam accounted for an impressive 51.08% of total foreign investment in Cambodia, solidifying its position as a leading investor in the region.
