World Bank Approves USD 80 Million Grant to Elevate Cambodia’s Education Sector & Renovate 147 Laboratories

In a significant boost to Cambodia’s education system, the World Bank has approved a USD 80 million grant aimed at upgrading the country’s tertiary education and research infrastructure. Over the next six years, the financing will be used to renovate 147 laboratories across nine public higher education institutions, providing improved facilities for academic growth and research advancement.

This project focuses on building a more inclusive educational environment, with a particular emphasis on female students and those with disabilities, further supporting women who serve as teachers and staff in colleges.

The comprehensive project includes climate change research and the development of climate-resilient infrastructure standards, ensuring Cambodia’s education sector evolves to meet future challenges. With the introduction of digitalized education, updated curriculums, and enhanced teacher training, the initiative is set to benefit approximately 32,000 students, including 13,000 female students.
