Tbong Khmum province to have new dual-function canal system

Tbong Khmum Municipality, together with the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, will jointly build a new dual-function canal system in Krouch Chmar district to help facilitate water supply for local people.

According to a Ministry press release, the canal is a dual-function waterway which helps provide water supply during the dry season and also help prevent flooding during the rainy season.

Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction H.E. Chea Sophara said during an inspection that construction of the canal would cost approximately US$600,000, but in return will ease the quality of life of over 2,000 families in the area.

Tbong Khmum province is a new province in the Kingdom of Cambodia with great potential. Many major infrastructure projects have been and are currently being built, including the Stueng Trang-Krouch Chmar Bridge.

According to the latest update from the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, construction of the Stueng Tranng-Kroch Chmar Bridge, linking Kampong Cham province and Tbong Khmum province was 75% complete as of December. (Read more)

In April last year, the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) also just approved a development project worth nearly US$100 million in the province. The project includes a 5-star hotel with 365 keys, a commercial building, golf club, bungalows, villas, a resort, and an entertainment complex. (Read more)
