Belt and Road Initiative book to enhance China – Cambodia friendship

The 11 October launch of the book ‘Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Its Implications for Cambodia’s Development’ is intended to enhance the friendship between China and Cambodia.

Speaking at the launch event, Zuo Wenxing, a political counsellor of the Chinese embassy to Cambodia admired the group of scholars for making the book a reality.

“We believe this book will become a new window for people from all walks of life in Cambodia to learn about the BRI and will play a positive role in pushing China-Cambodia relations to a new height,” Zuo said.

The book has been written by a group of Cambodian scholars and was published by Cambodia 21st Century Maritime Silk Road Research Center (CMSRRC) of the state-run Royal University of Phnom Penh.

The 190-page book focuses on the implications of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) on the development of Cambodia. It also provides suggestions on the political and strategic, economic and financial, socio-cultural and environmental implications of BRI according to CMSRRC’s Director Neak Chandarith.

The book asserts that BRI is an engine of economic growth for Cambodia through different sectors including the development of industrialisation, trade, investment expansion and tourism growth.
