Gov’t Grants 322 Hec of Social Land Concessions in Rolea Bier District, Kampong Chhnang Province

The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, in collaboration with the Kampong Chhnang Provincial Authority, has allocated 322 hectares of land as a judging area for land identification, classification, and registration in Prasnup commune, Rolea Bier district. This announcement, made on July 6, 2023, marks a crucial milestone in the implementation of the Land Allocation for Social and Economic Development (LASED III) project.

The LASED III project, supported by the World Bank and the Cambodian government, aims to enhance land tenure security and improve access to essential infrastructure, agriculture, and social services for marginalized communities, including the landless poor and indigenous groups. By granting social land concessions, the government endeavors to uplift living standards and provide opportunities for sustainable development in Cambodia.

This recent declaration follows another notable land allocation initiative in Mondulkiri province, where the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction, along with the Mondulkiri Provincial Authority, earmarked 6,000 hectares as a judging area for land identification and classification in Rayor and Sok San communes of Koh Nhek district. These initiatives signify the government’s commitment to addressing land-related issues and fostering inclusive growth across the nation. (Read more)

As the LASED III project progresses, it promises to create a more secure and prosperous future for the landless poor and indigenous communities in Cambodia, enabling them to harness the potential of the allocated land for their sustainable livelihoods and overall well-being.
