Sihanoukville Enhances Connectivity with Government Initiative: Free Wi-Fi Unveiled in Key Public Areas

In a strategic move to bolster connectivity and foster digital accessibility, the Sihanoukville Provincial Department of Posts and Telecommunications has successfully implemented a Public Wi-Fi project in prominent public spaces and major entertainment hubs within Sihanoukville.

Chaired by Mr Yus Sothea, Director of the Department of Posts and Telecommunications of Preah Sihanouk Province, a meeting on 5 January 2024, marked the official launch of this initiative.

Under this comprehensive plan, Techo Square along Ochheuteal Beach, Otres Beach, the tourist port (within the port area), and the vicinity of 7 Makara Forum Park have been equipped with public wi-fi. This initiative, backed by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, aims to provide complimentary internet access, thereby enhancing the overall experience for residents and visitors alike.

Presently, both Ochheuteal Beach and Otres Beach feature public wi-ii connectivity. The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has facilitated easy access to wi-fi through a QR code system, prominently displayed at each location.

As the city continues to evolve, the introduction of free wi-fi in key public areas not only meets the demands of the present but also anticipates the future needs of a rapidly growing community.
