The Gov’t Waives Fines for Housing Developments for One Year

The Cambodian Real Estate and Mortgage Regulator has announced a one-year waiver of fines for Borey and condominium projects, starting from 1 July 2024. This decision follows the guidance of Prime Minister Hun Manet and the outcomes of the 19th Royal Government of Cambodia-Private Sector Forum held on 13 November 2023. This announcement was officially released on 1 July 2024.

Despite the fine waiver, development projects must still comply with their obligations as stipulated by Prakas No. 047 and other relevant regulations. Housing projects, including Boreys and condominium buildings without proper licensing, are required to apply for a license from the real estate and mortgage business regulator.

The government’s move aims to support the real estate sector while ensuring regulatory compliance and development standards. The continuation of this exemption beyond the initial one-year period will depend on further governmental decisions.
