Cambodian Gov’t Extends Property Tax Relief: Fines & Penalties Waived Until End of 2023

In a proactive measure to support property owners facing tax-related challenges, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has taken a decisive step. They have announced the waiver of administrative sanctions, which include additional taxes and interest, on property taxes and unused land taxes.

This vital decision applies to all those who have not yet registered or declared their taxes, or for those who have paid them belatedly or incompletely. The announcement was made on 27 September 2023.

This relief initiative, effective until the culmination of 2023, provides property owners with a significant window of opportunity to regularise their tax status. It’s a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to easing the financial burden on its citizens during these challenging times.

However, starting in 2024, property owners who fail to meet their tax obligations within the stipulated time frame will be subject to the full force of the law, along with the applicable legal measures.

It’s important to note that this relief measure specifically pertains to property taxes and taxes on unused land for the year 2023. Property owners who have already fulfilled their tax obligations will not be eligible for this administrative relief.
