Phnom Penh Unveils ASEAN-International Business Centre: A New Era for Vegetable Wholesale Market

Marking a significant milestone in the agricultural and real estate sectors of Cambodia, the ASEAN-International Business Centre, also known as Phsar Doeum Kor Thmey, commenced operations on 27 April 2024. Situated in Sangkat Kork Roka, Khan Prek Pnov, this expansive 20-hectare development on Boeung Ta Mok land is now the largest international vegetable wholesale market in Phnom Penh.

The grand inauguration was graced by the presence of His Excellency Khuong Sreng, Governor of the Board of Governors of Phnom Penh, and His Excellency Wang Vinthean, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Kingdom of Cambodia. This event marks a pivotal moment in the city’s commitment to enhancing its agricultural distribution infrastructure.

Developed by Zhang Wang (Cambodia) Real Estate Investment Co., Ltd., the Deum Kor Market project encompasses a comprehensive vegetable supply market, ample parking facilities, extensive warehousing, and a towering 33-storey commercial building. This multifaceted development is poised to revolutionise the way vegetable trading is conducted in the country, offering a structured and efficient marketplace for traders and consumers alike.

In an innovative move to address the issue of street vendors operating under less-than-ideal conditions, the new Deum Kor Market will offer these traders the opportunity to operate within the Boeung Ta Mok area at reasonable rental rates. This initiative not only aims to streamline the vegetable trading process but also enhances the overall aesthetic and functionality of the city’s marketplaces.

The project aligns with the vision of former Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who had previously advocated for the establishment of more wholesale and retail markets for agricultural products across the capitals and provinces. (Read more)
