Road Construction Company Preparing to Request Additional funding Amid Rising Petrol Prices

The global petrol price hike could push road construction companies to claim increased budgets as the construction process is hit by the rising prices.

The remarks were made by HE Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister, Minister of Public Works and Transport, during an inspection of the construction of National Road No. 48 on 23 June.

“When we bid for the construction of National Road 48, we have the remaining budget, but now the price of oil is higher, so the company may charge more for the construction of Road 48. So, we have to keep a budget to prepare for some road repairs as well as price hikes due to rising oil prices,” he said.

National Road No. 48 connecting Sre Ambel to Koh Kong stretches over 148 km.

This road is now 8 % complete after construction started in March this year.
