Ambassador Wang Wenbin reaffirms China’s unwavering confidence in the Kingdom’s development trajectory as GDP swells from $2.7 billion to over $46 billion
Cambodia’s remarkable economic journey over the last thirty years has been hailed as a testament to the nation’s resilience and strategic vision. Speaking at the 2025 Annual General Assembly and the 30th Anniversary of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia on January 31, 2026, His Excellency Wang Wenbin, the Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, highlighted the extraordinary progress the Kingdom has achieved in maintaining peace, stability, and high-speed growth.
The Ambassador presented striking economic data to illustrate this transformation:
National GDP: Cambodia’s Gross Domestic Product has surged from $2.79 billion in 1994 to an estimated $46.35 billion in 2024.
Per Capita Income: The GDP per capita has seen a nearly nine-fold increase, rising from $302 in 1994 to $2,713 in 2024.
Ambassador Wang emphasized that these figures represent more than just statistics; they reflect a nation successfully navigating the path toward its long-term development goals. He expressed the Chinese Embassy’s firm belief that no challenge is too great to hinder Cambodia’s momentum.
Reiterating the depth of the bilateral relationship, the Ambassador stated that China remains fully confident in Cambodia’s future. He pledged that China will continue to be a steadfast friend and a reliable partner, supporting the Kingdom’s ongoing recovery and its ambitious quest to achieve higher-income status in the coming decades. This enduring partnership is expected to continue driving mutual prosperity through increased trade, investment, and technical cooperation.
