Three International Firms Plan US$500 Million International Theme Park in Kampong Speu Province

Three international companies plan to invest US$500 million to develop the Boeung Voa Preng site in Kampong Speu province to become a world-class theme park, according to the provincial governor on 10 May 2019.

Speaking with Construction & Property Magazine through telegram on 10 May 2019, Kampong Speu provincial governor H.E Vei Samnang said that three companies from Switzerland, Hong Kong, and Singapore had collected hectares of land for their world-class theme park located in Boeung Voa Preng, a site that shares the border between Phnom Sruoch and Samraong Tong districts in the province.

“They [project owner] already have the land acquisition documents and are only waiting to get an approval from the government (CDC) and other legal documental process,” he said.

“Along with having the land, they came to ask for support from all the relevant provincial authorities to support their project. And we had a meeting already, we support their project, now we are just waiting them to put out to the national level and come up with the master plan to implement it,” he added.

According to H.E Vei Samnang, this US$500 million project, will cover more than 100 hectares of land, including Boeung Voa Preng.

“Their private land already bought is more than 100 hectares, but they need to connect with Boeung Voa Preng of the state. They need to dig and expand that lake deeper and rehabilitate it. And the land that they bought; they need to build a lot of infrastructure there,” he said.

He also added that the project will benefit the people around the area as it will provide a lot of services jobs with high salaries. In addition, the project will also feature some public service places such as a 4-kilometre bicycle lane.

Over the last few months, Kampong Speu has attracted many investment projects such as solar-powered power plants and a US$500 million commercial centre by mobile phone manufacturer and property developer OPPO and VIVO. (Read more)
