Turkish Investors Mull Investing in Cambodia’s Construction Sector

Turkish investors have expressed interest in investing in Cambodia’s construction sector, citing that Cambodia has very high investing potential, according to the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce.

The interest was raised by Mr Ferudun Cevahiroglu, President of the Turkish Federation of Industrial Businesses, in a meeting held on 26 February with the Cambodian delegation led by Vice President of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce Lim Heng in Ankara, Turkey.

In the meeting, members of the Turkish Federation of Industrial Businesses participated in discussions to seek understanding about the business and investment environment in Cambodia in key areas including export& import, traditional textiles, construction, energy, mining, and agriculture.

Lim Heng called for cooperation in all areas, especially construction, energy, mining and technology.

Mr Ferudun Cevahiroglu stressed that Cambodia is a country with a long history and high potential, and he hoped that businessmen from both countries would be able to develop joint projects in the above key areas, and that he would lead a delegation to visit Cambodia soon.

For his part, Lim Heng informed the meeting about the new investment law of Cambodia, which has high incentives for investors.

Besides Turkey, Iranian investors have also recently expressed interest in the oil and gas sector in Cambodia. (Read more)

After KrisEnergy quit its operation in the Apsara oil field in June last year, plenty of countries have expressed interest in cooperating with the government in developing similar kinds of investment projects.
