World Biggest Airport in Beijing China Set to Open on September

The world to be biggest airport in terms of passenger capacity the Beijing Daxing International Airport in China is set to open on September this year following a fast track construction.

According to Civil Aviation Administation of China (CAAC), airport which sit on an area of 2,680 hectares located in Daxing will finish construction in June 30 and begin operation by September 2019.

As apart of China’s Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) to improve its aviation sector, the new airport can accommodate 130 million passengers and 5.5 million tonnes of cargo every year, outnumbering the currently world biggest airport Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the United States.

With investment of around US$15 billion, the Beijing Daxing International Airport is equipped with high technology making the airport smarter and more efficient. According to media report, the new technology is a set of application which include self-baggage check-in, self-check-in, as well as facial recognition in security checks.

According to the plan, China is to build additional 20 airports nationwide, which will make the country’s total airport number to 260.
