New Siem Reap International Airport Aims for 70% Completion This Year

The construction of the new Siem Reap International Airport will achieve more than 70% this year, said a senior government official recently.

Delegate minister attached to Prime Minister Tekreth Samrach said the construction of the new Siem Reap International Airport project is still progressing remarkably despite the pandemic.

The project is scheduled to be completed by 70% by the end of 2022 and to be fully completed in 2023.

“The progress of the new Siem Reap International Airport project not only responds to the revival of ASEAN tourism but also contributes significantly to the creation of many job opportunities for local people” he underlined.

The new airport is located in Sout Nikom district, approximately 51km from Siem Reap downtown or 40km from Angkor Wat.

With construction beginning on 15 March 2020, the airport is being built on a 700-hectare plot with a 1,000-hectare special economic zone under an investment of over US$900 million by Angkor International Airport Investment (Cambodia) Co., Ltd. (AIAI).
