New US$2-million Tourism Port in Kep to Begin Construction in Mid-September

Construction on the new tourism port in Kep known as Se Sar or White Horse port will begin on 15 September, under the private investment of over US$1.9million.

According to the press release of the provincial administration issued on Wednesday 1 September, the project will take two years to be completed, scheduled for 2023.

After completion, private investors can earn revenue by collecting parking fees for 15 years plus a 15-year extension right. The firm must also pay an 11 million riels fee per year to the provincial administration, which is also subjected to an increase of 5% every 5 years.

At the end of the contract, the investors must unconditionally hand over the port and all constructions to the government as state property.

Kep Governor Som Piseth said that the port is a new target for the development of tourism in the western side of Kep province, connecting to a new beach in two communes of Prey Thom and O’Krasar in the province.
