BYD Auto Mulls Building 200 EV Charging Stations in Cambodia

BYD Auto, a major importer of Chinese electric vehicles to Cambodia, has unveiled plans to build 200 EV charging stations in various locations across Cambodia by 2023.

The plan was proposed during the meeting between Minister of Public Works and Transport HE Sun Chanthol and Regional Director of BYD Auto Industry Mr Henry Yip on 26 November.

In the meeting, the company representatives mentioned the goal to participate in expanding the use of electric vehicles based on the vision towards the use of Green New Energy and Green Plan 2022-2023.

The company also expressed its intention to invest in the construction of 200 electric vehicle charging stations by 2023 throughout Cambodia.

Through this project, the company requested the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to coordinate with professional institutions and relevant authorities to find locations.

HE Sun Chanthol supported the project and urge the firm to first build at least 25 EV charging stations in the Departments of Public Works and Transport across all the provinces.
