Expansion of National Road 2 and 22 to begin in February  

The multimillion-dollar expansion of National Road No.2 and No. 22, is scheduled to break ground in February, after many years of planning.

The groundbreaking ceremony will be presided over by Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT), the restoration section of National Road No.2 covers a total length of 62.56 kilometres, from Takmao roundabout to Chambak and from Chambak to Doun Kaev roundabout in Takeo province.

Meanwhile, the restoration section of National Road No 22 covers a total length of 9.61 kilometres, from Doun Kaew roundabout to the Angk Ta Saom area near National Road 3.

The project includes the road expansion as well as upgrading both roads to asphalt concrete. According to MPWT, the project will take approximately 30 months to complete.

According to the same source, the project is expected to cost approximately US$64 million in total, of which US$56 million is financed by the South Korean government and US$8 million is from the Cambodian government budget.

The project will be constructed by Hanshin Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. Meanwhile, a joint venture of Dasan Consultants Co., Ltd, Dong II Engineering Consultants Co., Ltd, and Seoyoung Engineering Co., Ltd. will perform the technical checks, according to the report.

H.E Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Ministry of Public Works and Transport on signed a contract agreement on 25 June 2019 with Korean construction firm Hanshin Engineering & Construction Co. Ltd (Read More).
