US$80 million Chinese-funded Kossamak Hospital Building Passes Completion Inspection

The new US$80-million Chinese-funded Preah Kossamak Hospital building successfully passed the completion inspection on Tuesday 28 December, according to the contractor China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd.

The construction project technical team’s leader, Shi Xiaoguang, said the building will become the first hospital in Cambodia with a modern medical concept of low energy consumption and high quality, reported Xinhua.

“And it will also become a modern public general hospital with the highest level of medical technology in the country, and will provide Cambodian people with a higher level of medical services,” he added.

Fully funded by the Chinese government, the 11-story building has 400 beds and is equipped with modern equipment.

The new hospital building covers an area of 12,900 square metres and is divided into different units, including surgery, outpatient services, emergency, medical technology, hospitalization, and logistics. It also includes a helipad on the roof of the building.

Construction work on the project started in October 2018, while the handover is expected to be in early 2022. (Read more)
