First Flyover Section of Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway Project Takes Shape

The US$2 billion Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway project has taken another step forward, as the first flyover has started taking shape, according to the official Facebook page of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway on 17 May.

The team has already finished installing girder blocks for this flyover, marking another major breakthrough in the construction. Upon completion, this flyover will be used to change traffic direction by the drivers.

Besides the flyover, the pavement work is also already underway. The road is being paved with durable asphalt concrete or known as ATB-25, and the actual pavement has begun after the engineers completed the test segment in March.

According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport spokesman Heang Sotheayuth, the project has been going smoothly despite lockdowns. As of early May, the construction is approximately 49% complete. (Read more)
