124 New Industrial Projects Registered During First Three Quarters of 2021

The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation registered a total of 124 new industrial projects during the first three quarters of 2021, reflecting strong private sector confidence in Cambodia’s economy despite the ongoing pandemic.

The new industrial projects registered bring total active industrial factories to 1,843 with a total investment of US$1.3341 billion, HE Heng Sokkong, the ministry’s Secretary of State and spokesman, said on 18 October.

To date, the total product export of the industrial factories was at US$3.057 billion and supply to the domestic market was at US$1.123 billion, he added.

However, he did not disclose the number of factories temporary closed or shut down during the same period.

Having new industrial investment projects registered reflects private firms’ confidence in Cambodia, given the expected herd immunity and the plan to reopen the economy, HE Heng Sokkong explained.
