Japanese Firms Investing in Hotel Projects in Cambodia

Since Cambodia is in need for more hotel rooms to accommodate the millions of visitors expected to visit the country, Japanese firm have been focusing on hotel development in the Kingdom.

The Ministry of Tourism recently announced on its Facebook page that Japanese companies are starting to invest in luxury hotel projects in Cambodia.

According to the ministry, seven big Japanese hotel and resort projects have been successfully registered with the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC). These include six hotel projects and the V-Pine Kirirom Resort project.

The recently opened Hotel Emion Phnom Penh Hotel in Phnom Penh is a reflection of this increased interest in the luxury hotel sector in Cambodia by Japanese companies. Read more

Meanwhile, to further promote hotel investment from Japanese companies as well as to attract more Japanese tourists, the Ministry of Tourism is now drafting a ‘Strategic Market Study to Attract Japanese Tourists’ with the issuance of measures to strengthen and manage existing tourism. The measure also aims to attract more hotel investment and other tourism products.
