Municipality gives green light to Boeng Snor underpass

Phnom Penh Municipality has decided to allow a private sector company – Borey Peng Houth, a leading real estate developer – to conduct a feasibility study on constructing an underpass crossing National Road No.1.

In a recent meeting chaired by H.E. Khuong Sreng, Phnom Penh Governor, the municipality said the project for the underpass located in Niroth commune, Chbar Ampov district, will contribute to easing the traffic congestion in the area.

According to the municipality, the vehicular traffic underpass will connect between PH ECO Mall, located in the Boeng Snor area and National Road No.1.

According to Mr Met Meas Pheakdey, spokesman for the Phnom Penh Municipality, the company is about to conduct a feasibility study of the project after the municipality gave the green light to the project.

“The project proposal was given the green light to the company to start conducting the study for the underpass project,” said Mr Met..

A company representative, who asked not to be named, said that the details of the project have not been revealed.

“As mentioned in the meeting last week, the company agreed in principle for the underpass projects,” she said. “The traffic in Boeng Snor area is very congested, so if we have underpass, it will help a lot to facilitate traffic congestion, particularly for commuters along National Road No.1,” she said.
