Studies of Three Railway Projects Complete, Other Infrastructure Construction Ongoing

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport, as of 02 September 2, has completed the studies and approved at least six major infrastructure development projects nationwide, including three new railway systems among others.

According to the Minister of Public Works and Transport HE Sun Chanthol, those projects are the Phnom Penh-Ho Chi Minh railway project (in cooperation with Vietnam), a monorail project (in collaboration with a private company), a Phnom Penh Metro project, the Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway, a Mekong River Bridge, International Airport, among others.

“The ministry has been actively constructing and enhancing countless national infrastructure. For example, the ongoing Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville expressway project, the restoration of two existing railways, cross-border railways with Thailand, the expansion of the Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville ports, the launches of passenger ships, and so on,” said HE Sun Chanthol.
