Gov’t Revokes 20-hectare Boeung Ta Mok Land Allocation and Cancels Construction of Sub Military Headquarters

The Cambodian government has decided to nullify the privatisation of 20-hectares of Boeung Ta Mok, and cancel the construction of a sub military headquarters building on 1.5 hectares of land in Daun Penh district, according to Sub-Decree issued 13 January 2021.

In December 2020, the government issued two announcements, one of which decided to hand over 20 hectares of Ta Mok Lake to Mr Lon Hak and Ms Chhun Chanthy. Meanwhile, another one ordered the two to build a sub-headquarters building on 1.5 hectares in Srah Chak commune of Daun Penh.

However, the new sub-decree on 13 January has voided both of the aforementioned decisions, meaning that there will be no land exchange and construction.

In 2020, the Cambodian government decided to allocate the land of Boeung Ta Mok at least nine times or equal to 682 hectares to private ownership and some state institutions, and many other cases have also been revoked. (Read more and more)
