Government Voids 30-hectare Boeung Ta Mok Land Allocation from 2020

The Cambodian government has voided the 30-hectare Boeung Ta Mok land allocation, which last year was given to the Ministry of Rural Development and three other state institutions to build their headquarters.

In the meantime, the government has also ordered the relocation of some ministries and government offices’ headquarters as well.

According to the Office of the Council of Ministers’ announcement on 04 January 2021, the government voided their 2020 decision No. 790, which allocated 15 hectares of land in Boeung Ta Mok to build a new Ministry of Rural Development building. (read more)

The same announcement also voided the government’s 2020 decision No. 791, which allocated 15 hectares of land in Beoung Ta Mok to build three other government office buildings. Those include the National Committee for Disaster Management, Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority, and Cambodian Human Rights Committee.

The same letter also decided to switch locations of some government buildings as follows:

– The Ministry of Rural Development headquarters will be relocated to the current Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction headquarters
– Department of Land Management, Urban Planning, Construction of Phnom Penh headquarters
will be relocated to the current Ministry of Rural Development headquarters
– The three aforementioned government units will be relocated to the current Ministry of Mines and Energy

In 2020 alone, the government has allocated Boeung Ta Mok land to the public and private sectors at least nine times or equal to over 682 hectares. (Read more)
